High Desert Chapter

About the CTTC High Desert Chapter

Our Tortoises and Animals are not choosy about who works to save them and neither are we. We find that the more diversified our membership is the better we’re able to accomplish our goals to help the declining Desert Tortoise.

As a rescue organization, we naturally have to be Creatives who think and work outside of the box, crafting solutions with care and endless hope of accomplishing good in the world. We rely on culturally responsive workplace practices to promote our Mission.

Our commitment to equality and inclusiveness is evident in our membership of seniors, special needs individuals and their families, Veterans, students, and notably, those with PTSD who are allowing Tortoises to help them heal.

We welcome each member from every background, ethnicity, and persuasion, because, as a completely volunteer organization, we believe that equality and diversity of ideas, individual perspectives and their own unique experiences can only teach us and open us to more positive ways to reach our goals.

We strive to create conditions that provide everyone with the safety to express their individual knowledge and thoughts, as we believe this keeps us in balance and moves us closer to fulfilling our mission.
