CTTC published Shelby [ISBN 1-887945-01-6] by Cynthia Cooksey in 1995. This 48-page book is a compilation of the popular cartoon series from the Tortuga Gazette detailing the life of a captive tortoise and its foibles.
Although anthropomorphic and not meant as "serious" reading, the work was designed to enhance the general public's understanding of the desert tortoise.
